As a financial expert of many years, Ibrahim’s journey in politics can be said to be a chance discovery; serendipity describes it perfectly. He was inspired by the performance of Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki with the encouragement and support of our father: The late titan; DrAbubakarOlusolaSaraki [OLOYE] of blessed memory when he ventured in to governance/politics in May 2009 where he contested and subsequently got elected in a by-election into the Kwara State House of Assembly to represent Oke-Ogun Constituency in Oyun LGA after the death of Hon Rauf Salami Lambe (May his soul rest in peace).

To the glory of Almighty Allah, after a sterling performance in the State House of Assembly, he was nominated with the total blessing of the Leadership of Saraki Dynasty and got elected to the House of Representatives of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in April 2011 to represent Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Constituency.

The catalogue of his achievements in the green chamber is chronicled for posterity. It was indeed a good time for the people of the constituency as Ibrahim brought a paradigm shift to the mode of representation. That he gave back to his constituency in that four years of his representation through physical, mental and material empowerment, is now history. The four years of his representation in the House of Representatives witnessed unprecedented performance. While nursing the ambition of possibly returning to the lower arm of the National Assembly in the 2015 polls, the political Leadership of Kwara state ably being led by the Senate President, Dr  AbubakarBukolaSaraki [CON], reached a compromise and decided that he threw his hat in the ring for the seat of Kwara South Senatorial District in the Senate under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

As a man of destiny, Rafiu Ibrahim triumphed in the election with a landslide victory. His victory was anticipated as he is a man ofsheer humility. Knowing his versatility and astuteness, the leadership of the Eight Senate upon the constitution of the Senate Standing Committees named him Chairman, Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions and also Co-Chair and members of other various Senate Committees. If he had wished to remain apolitical, he may have probably found himself in academia. It is , however, little wonder  that he worked against all odds to be certified as a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from the reputable Lead City University, Ibadan.

Gentle with a subtle profundity, Ibrahim knows how to hold his own without vanity or flamboyance. He is the personification of humility without servility, efficiency without showiness, brilliance without arrogance. Ibrahim has proven his mettle as a brilliant and cosmopolitan team player, as well as a loyal and disciplined party man. Much may have been said and written about his public and private life, however, his courage, integrity, generosity and all-embracing character have stood high above everything else. Ibrahim has proven to be a dependable student of Saraki political School of Philosophy, which rests on the shoulder of the Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, a political colossus. He sees his loyalty as a token payback for all the kindness and magnanimity he is enjoying from the entire political structure of Kwara state as led by his mentor, brother and political fortress, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki.
